FAQs

Q: How long does the equestrian retraining program take?

A: Most horses spend up to 12 weeks in retraining, however some take more than 12 months until they are deemed ready to be rehomed into an equestrian home.

Q: What is the process for retraining?

A: Click here to view PDF.

Q: Do you take privately owned horses for retraining?

A: Yes. We offer services to assist people who already own a horse, that may need assistance with retraining or help with specific issues.  Sometimes horses have been out of work for a long time, and owners aren't confident to give them their first few rides, so we can help.  We can tailor a program to cater for the specific issues and your budget. Prices start from $60 / day.

Q: Do you give lessons?

A: Yes. We offer private lessons on our premises on our horses or yours, or we can come to you and your horse.  Please see our Riding Lessons page for current pricing.

Q: Do you offer gift vouchers for riding lessons?

A: YES! We can help you give the gift of horse riding to a friend or family member. Just give us a call or email to arrange.

Q: Do you have private agistment available?

A: No, however we do offer a spelling facility for racehorses.

Q: I've just acquired an Off The Track Thoroughbred - what sort of things do I need to do to retrain him?

A: Check out our Retraining Guide (above). Also, have a look at Racing Victoria's Off The Track website - it has lots of information in relation to retraining ex-racehorses.  AND if you need help - get it! It never hurts to ask.

Q: How long does breaking in take?

A: It depends on the horse and the discipline. Typically, the bare minimum is 3-4 weeks.  We can discuss a program that includes what you require for your horse and your budget.
